Protest Rally Was Held In New York Against Unlimited Presidency In Azerbaijan
New York, USA. January 9, 2009: Azerbaijani-Americans for Democracy (AZAD) organization held its second protest action today against the removal of term limits on the presidency in Azerbaijan. Azerbaijanis living in the United States protested in New York in front of United Nations building. Over 20 protesters held signs and chanted slogans “No to Monarchy”, “Free Media in Azerbaijan”, “Save Republic”, “No King for Azerbaijan”.
An appeal to all democratic countries in the world to support Azerbaijani people in their struggle to preserve the Republic and future of democracy in Azerbaijan was distributed to the representatives of member countries of the U.N. and the organizations offices in New York.
The previous protest picket of AZAD took place in Washington, DC on December 30, 2008 in front of Azerbaijani Embassy.
