Iran prepared to export gas to Azerbaijan

TEHRAN, Dec. 26 (Mehr News Agency) — The Iranian ambassador to Azerbaijan announced on Tuesday that the country is prepared to export gas to the ex-Soviet state, the Iranian Students News Agency (ISNA) reported.

Officials of the two countries have paid due attention to Iran gas export deal to Azerbaijan. The issue was also discussed during the visit of Azeri first deputy prime minister to Tehran, Afshar Soleimani was reported as saying.

He stated that gas transport to Georgia is also possible via Azerbaijan, commenting, "The Islamic Republic supports its neighbors."

Elsewhere, he said that a power line at 250 kilometers will be established in 2007 to transit Iran's electricity to Azerbaijan, elaborating that the line will increase electricity export to 700 MW from the current amount of 200 MW.
