100,000 Azeris illegally work in Turkey; 13,000-15,000 Turks do it in Azerbaijan
"Labor migration between Turkey and Azerbaijan is regulated unsatisfactorily. Azerbaijani citizens work without permission in Turkey and Turkish citizens do it in Azerbaijan. According to preliminary estimate, 100,000 Azerbaijani citizens are without registration in Turkey; 13,000-15,000 Turkish citizens — in Azerbaijan," Azerbaijan Minister of Labor and Social Protection Fizuli Alekperov informed, Day.Az reports.
Stressing that 3,000 Turkish companies are active in Azerbaijan, the minister said that measures, aimed at protecting migrant workers’ rights, are being taken together with Turkey. In this connection, the countries will hold consultations. Also, the countries will monitor situation at labor market. The both countries will use mutual experience, while they will grant work permissions for foreign citizens. Mr. Alekperov stated; agreement is planned to be developed together with Turkey, which will regulate labor activity and social protection, as well as experience exchange on the agreement analysis and introduction.
