SITUATION IN AZERBAIJAN UNDER CONTROL
BAKU, February 25 (RIA Novosti's Gerai Dadashev) - The situation in Azerbaijan is under total control, spokesman for the Azeri National Security Ministry Arif Babayev told RIA Novosti on Friday. "The National Security Ministry is taking all the necessary measures to prevent any possible negative aspects and factors aimed against the national and public security," Mr. Babayev said. It was reported earlier that the Russian law enforcement agencies had eliminated a group of terrorists in Chechnya heading for Baku to perform a terrorist act. "The gang including three terrorists was discovered on the Chechen-Dagestani administrative border at the Amir-Kot passage by the special forces," a spokesman for the Russian power structures told RIA Novosti on Friday. According to RIA Novosti's interlocutor, two militants were killed and one captured. The detained militant said that the group was going to Baku on the instructions of warlord Doku Umarov to murder Movladi Gelayev, brother of Ruslan Gelayev, and his folks who would gather in Azerbaijan's capital on February 28 to commemorate Gelayev. The latter was killed by the federal forces in 2004. Gelayev's folks consider Umarov a traitor and their deadly enemy.
