Dear sir/madam Re APPEALING TO THE WORLD COMMUNITY AND TO THE UNITED NATIONS We are writing on behalf of the population of the Erak Region of Southern Azerbaijan, suffering from the colonial rule of the regime in Tehran. This regime violates our human rights; deprives us of our mother tongue; plunders our homeland; determined to falsify the status of the region by its Persian assimilation ideology. In particular, the regime of Tehran regards the region of Erak as its backyard by dumping its rudimentary industries here and polluting its environment. In recent years, without the participation of the population of the region and without seeking their consensus, the regime is undermining this region by realising its nuclear ambitions through implementing a rapid construction program. We, Southern Azerbaijanis, declare our opposition to the implementation of any nuclear program in our homeland and its neighbourhood. The United Independent Azerbaijan Front (the Front), is the organisation articulating our national ideals; struggling for the independence of Southern Azerbaijan and for its liberation; above all, the Front is fighting for the establishment of a democratic state. Our organisation was formed in Southern Azerbaijan in the wake of the collapse of the Shah's regime. Naturally, because of the iron-fist policies instigated by regimes of Tehran, the activities of the Front are clandestine. The Front from its early days is against any nuclear establishment in our homeland. This has been clearly expressed in our manifesto and the proposed constitution. In the name of our nation, we, representing the United Independent Azerbaijan Front, appeal to the world community, to all international institutions under the leadership of the United Nations, and to democratic, humanitarian and peace-loving individuals. Our demand is to stop any nuclear program. Thus, we call upon you to condemn the regime in Tehran engaged in constructing uranium enrichment plants in our region or its neighbourhood. On behalf of the nation of Southern Azerbaijan, and in particular in the name of the population of the Erak region, our Front condemns the regime in Tehran for posing risk to our nation. We are confident in, and count on, the expression of your solidarity and of the world progressive forces for our appeal. We look forward to hearing from you.
